LG CNS Completes First Overseas AI Data Center by a Korean Company, a 30MW Hyperscale Facility in Indonesia
LG CNS completes Korea's first overseas AI data center—a 30MW hyperscale facility in Jakarta with hybrid cooling and One LG solutions, expanding to 400MW.

LG CNS (064400), led by CEO Hyun Shin-gyun, has completed construction of a 30MW-class hyperscale AI data center in Jakarta, Indonesia. According to the company, it is the first case of a Korean company directly building an AI data center on-site for an overseas client. LG CNS also said it has secured customers for the facility's entire capacity before completion.
Project Background and Client
The project was commissioned last year by KMG, a joint venture between Indonesia's Sinarmas Group and Korea Investment Real Assets Management. LG CNS said the project demonstrates in an overseas market the AI data center design, build and operate (DBO) capabilities it has accumulated in Korea. LG CNS CEO Hyun Shin-gyun attended the completion ceremony at the Jakarta AI data center on the 1st, according to the company's photo caption.
Design for High-Density GPU Workloads
LG CNS designed and built the facility as scalable infrastructure that can stably support high-performance computing based on next-generation GPUs. Taking into account the high heat output of AI servers, the company adopted a hybrid cooling structure that combines air cooling and liquid cooling. In this first phase of construction, LG CNS applied an air-cooling system that circulates air to lower internal temperatures.
In subsequent phases, the company plans to add a liquid-cooling system that controls GPU heat more efficiently, providing cooling infrastructure optimized for high-density AI server environments. LG CNS also built a power system able to handle high-density environments of 300kW or more per rack.
According to the company, this is roughly 60 times the power a typical data center rack requires, enabling stable power supply even to AI computing resources that mount multiple GPUs in a single rack. The power infrastructure is also redundant, so that if the main power supply is interrupted, backup power allows stable operation 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
One LG Integrated Solution
The project applied the "One LG" integrated solution. Centered on LG CNS's DBO capabilities, the company brought together core capabilities across the group, including LG Electronics' air-conditioning systems and LG Energy Solution's batteries, to deliver integrated power, cooling, and energy infrastructure.
LG CNS said this allowed it to apply group-level integrated capabilities to overseas AI infrastructure construction, and that it has secured a reference on which to expand its global AI data center business based on the One LG solution.
Expansion to 400MW and Asia-Pacific Plans
LG CNS is currently working on the design for subsequent construction phases. Once those phases are complete, total power receiving capacity will expand to 400MW, positioning the facility as a leading large-scale AI data center in Indonesia.
Drawing on the overseas construction experience and customer references gained through the Indonesian project, LG CNS said it will pursue expansion of its AI data center business in other Asia-Pacific markets, including Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, the Philippines and Japan. The company said this will strengthen its global AI data center competitiveness and allow it to respond actively to growing demand for AI infrastructure.
Domestic Business Portfolio
LG CNS describes itself as Korea's top data center operator. Alongside its overseas expansion, it said it continues to grow data center revenue in Korea by offering varied business models.
The company has broadened its portfolio to include colocation and DBO, as well as prefabricated modular data centers that support rapid AI data center construction, GPUaaS, which provides GPUs on a subscription basis, and liquid-cooling infrastructure construction. Building on this, LG CNS said it will expand into an AI factory business linked to AI platforms and services.
Executive Comment
"Completing the Indonesian AI data center is a meaningful achievement in which LG CNS provided the data center capabilities it accumulated in Korea to overseas customers and proved its business competitiveness in the global market," CEO Hyun Shin-gyun said. "Using this as a bridgehead, we will expand our AI data center and AI factory businesses in global markets, including Asia-Pacific, where demand for AI computing is surging."
