Uptime Institute and IDPRO Sign Jakarta MOU to Lift Indonesian Data Center Standards

Uptime Institute, the Global Digital Infrastructure Authority, has formalized a partnership with IDPRO, the Indonesia Data Center Provider Organization, through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in Jakarta on November 2, 2026.

Industry Bodies Align on Indonesia's Digital Infrastructure Future

The agreement pairs the international benchmarking body with Indonesia's official industry association for data center providers and digital infrastructure companies, with both sides committing to the development of a reliable, sustainable and globally competitive data center industry in the country.

The memorandum was signed by Mustapha Louni, Chief Business Officer at Uptime Institute, and Hendra Suryakusuma, Chairman of IDPRO. Witnessing the signing were Patrick Chan, Managing Director, South Asia, Uptime Institute, and Michael Abimanyu, Executive Director of IDPRO.

Four Priorities, One Framework

The collaborative agreement sets out defined objectives: promoting international standards and best practices across the data center lifecycle in Indonesia, strengthening infrastructure availability and operational resilience, advancing resource efficiency and sustainability, and supporting the development of a skilled industry workforce.

The organizations state that these priorities will help raise industry standards and reinforce Indonesia's position in the global digital infrastructure landscape. The MOU also creates a platform for sharing industry knowledge and promoting practices that enhance data center performance from design and construction through commissioning and operations.

Who Brings What

The partnership pairs Uptime Institute's global expertise in digital infrastructure performance, resilience and sustainability with IDPRO's deep engagement across Indonesia's data center ecosystem.

The companies expect this combination to foster greater knowledge exchange, industry collaboration and adoption of globally recognized best practices. Uptime Institute has, over more than 30 years, established industry-leading benchmarks for data center performance, resilience, sustainability and efficiency, benchmarks that assure customers their digital infrastructure will perform consistently with their business requirements. IDPRO serves as the official association voice for data center providers and digital infrastructure companies operating in Indonesia.

Louni Points to Shared Commitment on Best Practices

"Digital infrastructure plays a foundational role in enabling economic growth and innovation," said Mustapha Louni, Chief Business Officer at Uptime Institute. "Our collaboration with IDPRO reflects a shared commitment to advancing international best practices and supporting the continued evolution of Indonesia's data center industry. By combining global expertise with local industry engagement, we hope to contribute insights and experience that help strengthen the sector for the future."

Patrick Chan, Managing Director, South Asia Pacific, at Uptime Institute, described the market itself. "Indonesia is one of the most dynamic digital infrastructure markets in Asia," Chan said.

"Continued investment in expertise, operational maturity, and industry collaboration will be important to sustaining this momentum. Through our partnership with IDPRO, we look forward to supporting the exchange of knowledge and global best practices that can help accelerate the industry's development."

IDPRO Chairman Stresses Sector's Role in National Development

IDPRO Chairman Hendra Suryakusuma emphasized the strategic importance of the sector to Indonesia's development. "Indonesia's data center sector has a critical role to play in supporting the country's digital ambitions," he said.

"Through this collaboration, we aim to encourage the adoption of international best practices, strengthen workforce capabilities, and advance an industry that is reliable, sustainable, and globally competitive. Collaboration across the ecosystem will be essential to achieving these goals."

Workforce Development Frames Sector Maturation

Both organizations describe the MOU as reflecting a shared commitment to ensuring that the sector's growth is underpinned by operational excellence, resilience and responsible resource management.

The agreement frames workforce development alongside infrastructure and sustainability goals, positioning skills formation as a central component of the industry's maturation.

Uptime Institute looks forward to working together with IDPRO and industry stakeholders to support the long-term development of Indonesia's data center sector and to help meet the country's evolving digital infrastructure needs.

A Framework, Not a Contract

While the memorandum is not a commercial contract, it establishes a formal framework through which the two bodies intend to cooperate. Both parties point to the same underlying logic: that Indonesia's data center industry, described by Uptime Institute's regional leadership as among the most dynamic in Asia, will require sustained investment in expertise, operational maturity and collaboration to maintain its trajectory.

The commitments set out in the agreement span the full data center lifecycle from design and construction through commissioning and operations, signaling an intent to embed international benchmarks within the Indonesian market at every stage of facility delivery and operation.

For IDPRO, the partnership represents an opportunity to channel global best practices to its members; for Uptime Institute, it deepens engagement with one of Asia's fastest-moving digital infrastructure markets. Both organizations have indicated that the agreement is intended to serve as a platform for ongoing knowledge exchange and industry collaboration rather than a one-time announcement, with the shared aim of strengthening the sector for the future.
