Global Vision Lab and PKNPk Explore Over-100 MW AI Data Center Plan in Malaysia
PKNPk and Global Vision Lab explore a 100MW+ AI data center in Perak, Malaysia, with only an NDA signed so far—scope, funding and timelines remain undisclo

A proposed artificial intelligence data center in Perak with planned capacity exceeding 100MW is being explored by Malaysia's Perak State Development Corporation (PKNPk) and Global Vision Lab Sdn Bhd (GVL).
The initiative remains at a preliminary stage, with only a non-disclosure agreement and a letter of consent signed between the two parties. Details, including the full scope of the development, have not yet been made available.
Planning duties rest with GVL while PKNPk manages state stakeholders.
Under the existing arrangement, PKNPk will engage with state-level stakeholders, while GVL takes charge of development planning and preliminary assessments. This places the state development corporation in the role of government-facing coordinator, with the private partner carrying out the planning and evaluation groundwork that would inform later stages.
Tie-in to the state's development plan
PKNPk chief executive Datuk Redza Rafiq described the proposal as supporting the state's wider development agenda. "The initiative supports the aspirations of Perak Sejahtera 2030 and creates opportunities for Perak to emerge as a destination for the development of high-technology digital infrastructure," he said.
Perak Sejahtera 2030 is the state's development plan. If realized, the proposed AI data center would mark Perak's entry into digital infrastructure, a sector in which the state has not previously featured prominently in Malaysia's data center landscape.
Location next to Malaysia's established data center corridors
Perak sits directly north of Selangor and the Klang Valley, where Kuala Lumpur and Cyberjaya, the country's current data center hubs, are located in central Peninsular Malaysia. The state borders the corridors where Malaysia's data center activity has so far been concentrated.
A development of more than 100MW of AI-focused capacity would represent significant scale for the state. However, with only a non-disclosure agreement and letter of consent signed, the project's timeline, funding, site selection, and other specifics remain undisclosed.
Open questions around scope, funding and timelines
As the initiative is still in an exploratory phase, key details are unresolved. Neither party has disclosed the full scope of the development, the investment value, construction timelines, or prospective tenants.
The PKNPk announcement signals intent on both sides to pursue the concept, with GVL responsible for the preliminary assessments that would shape any subsequent stages of the project.
