NTT DATA Brings 12 MW AI-Ready Jakarta 2 Annex Online and Rolls Out Indonesia's First APN Connectivity Service

A new 12 MW data center is now open in the Indonesian capital.

NTT DATA announced on November 3, 2026, that its Jakarta 2 Annex Data Center (JKT2A) has begun operations, adding a next-generation, AI-ready facility designed to handle hyperscale, enterprise, and high-density computing workloads.

JKT2A Expands NTT’s Jakarta Capacity for Cloud and AI

The company positions the site as a response to rising demand for cloud, AI, and digital transformation services across Southeast Asia and says it strengthens NTT's data center footprint in the Asia-Pacific region. JKT2A sits within the NTT Global Data Centers Jakarta campus, directly adjacent to the existing JKT2 facility.

That adjacency matters for connectivity: JKT2, described by the company as one of Jakarta's leading carrier-neutral connectivity hubs, hosts more than 240 network service providers, the JKT-IX internet exchange, major cloud service providers, and critical submarine cable connections.

Because the new annex interconnects directly with JKT2, clients can grow their digital infrastructure without losing the network, partner, and cloud connections they already rely on.

Photonics Links Two Jakarta Sites 35 Kilometers Apart

Alongside the new building, NTT DATA is introducing APN Connect to Indonesia for the first time. The service is built on All-Photonics Network technology, which itself draws on Innovative Optical and Wireless Network (IOWN) technology.

In practice, APN Connect delivers high-capacity, low-latency Layer 1 connectivity between the JKT2/JKT2A complex and JKT3, two facilities separated by roughly 35 kilometers.

The company says the link allows real-time data synchronization between geographically separated sites, underpinning disaster recovery arrangements, data replication, and operations that span multiple data centers.

For clients running mission-critical environments in Jakarta, the technology is intended to make multi-site resilience practical without sacrificing performance.

Resilience Built Into the Design

The technical specification of JKT2A reflects a redundancy-first approach. The 12 MW of IT load is supported by dual power substations, a 2N UPS architecture and N+1 backup generators. Cooling follows a similar pattern, with an N+1 air-cooled chiller configuration working alongside an N+2 computer room air handler (CRAH) configuration.

Beyond power and cooling, the facility carries a Tier III-certified design and operates as a carrier- and cloud-neutral site, giving tenants access to leading cloud platforms and to both domestic and international network providers. Security is handled around the clock, with 24/7 security operations backed by multi-layered physical controls.

NTT DATA frames JKT2A as part of its wider global data center platform, arguing that the new capacity expands its ability to deliver scalable, interconnected infrastructure across key Asia-Pacific markets, supporting clients pursuing growth in Indonesia as well as those executing broader global expansion strategies.

Executives Point to Indonesia's Digital Economy

Company leadership tied the investment directly to the trajectory of the Indonesian market.

Doug Adams, President and CEO of NTT Global Data Centers, said Indonesia is one of the most dynamic digital economies in Southeast Asia and is generating significant demand for scalable, highly connected digital infrastructure.

In his view, the opening of JKT2A reflects the company's ongoing commitment to supporting clients' cloud, AI, and digital transformation initiatives with resilient, high-performance infrastructure and, taken together with APN Connect, strengthens its ability to deliver the scale, connectivity, and reliability organizations need to accelerate innovation and growth.

Yasuhiro Kajiki, Managing Director for Japan and APAC at NTT Global Data Centers, described the opening as an important milestone for the company's Indonesian business and the clients it serves there.

"By expanding our capacity and connecting the facilities through APN Connect, we are creating a more connected and resilient data center platform that gives our clients greater flexibility as their infrastructure needs evolve," Kajiki said, adding that the company is proud to keep investing in Indonesia's digital future.
