Maglev Compressors Replace Evaporative Cooling as MagPro Debuts 1.85 MW Air-Cooled Chiller for AI Workloads
MagPro's AeroLev 1850 is a 1.85 MW air-cooled chiller with maglev compressors, eliminating water use for AI data centers in hot, water-scarce regions.

Data centers running AI compute face a compounding problem: denser racks generate more heat just as water availability tightens in many regions. MagPro, also known as Nanjing CIPU Technology Co., Ltd., used a Sept. 29, 2026, announcement in Singapore to position its new AeroLev 1850 platform as an answer to that constraint. The platform is a 1.85 MW-class air-cooled chiller rated for 45°C ambient conditions, built around magnetic-bearing technology and intended for next-generation AI data centers in water-scarce, high-ambient environments.
A Singapore Launch Aimed at the Water Problem
MagPro is a joint venture between CIGU Technology Corp. Ltd. and EPG Data Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. According to the company, AeroLev 1850 pairs a cooling-tower-free architecture with oil-free magnetic-levitation technology and intelligent controls. Because evaporative cooling water is eliminated entirely, the platform removes what MagPro describes as a significant operational constraint for facilities in arid and water-stressed regions, allowing cooling capacity to scale with AI power demand without increasing water dependence.
What the Numbers Say
The centerpiece is a dedicated air-cooled magnetic-levitation compressor with isentropic efficiency reaching up to 87%. A patented condenser provides subcooling of more than 3°C, and standard EC fans contribute additional energy performance gains. MagPro states the combination yields up to 40% higher overall energy efficiency and up to 8% lower failure rates relative to conventional oil-lubricated compressors.
Maintenance costs, the company says, run up to 10% lower than conventional chillers. A free-cooling mode adds another layer of savings: during cooler periods, ambient air takes over some of the cooling load, cutting compressor runtime, power consumption, and operating costs.
Built for High-Temperature Liquid Cooling
With direct-to-chip and immersion liquid cooling spreading across the AI data-center sector, MagPro engineered AeroLev 1850 to supply chilled water at temperatures up to 45°C. That capability supports emerging high-temperature cooling architectures without forcing operators into major infrastructure reinvestment. The platform also uses a standardized modular design, which the company says enables rapid installation and flexible expansion as AI capacity grows.
Leadership Weighs In
"As water constraints become a defining consideration for data center development, AeroLev 1850 advances a resilient model for AI data center cooling," said William Wu, General Manager of Nanjing CIPU Technology Co., Ltd. "It enables efficient, reliable compute growth in challenging environments while turning today's infrastructure into long-term resilience."
"MagPro marks an important step in our global cooling technology strategy," said Alick Wan, Founder and Chairman of EPG Data Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. "By combining EPG's engineering and delivery expertise with CIGU's core magnetic-levitation technology, we are building resilient, resource-efficient digital infrastructure less dependent on water. AeroLev 1850 reflects our commitment to advancing green data-center infrastructure and a sustainable digital ecosystem worldwide."
