Volta Data Centres, the colocation platform owned by Arcus Infrastructure Partners, has bought the Reynolds House Manchester data centre from Lunar Digital under a carve-out arrangement, with the deal announced in London on 27 October 2026.
The business being transferred delivers carrier-neutral, interconnection-led colocation from the Reynolds House campus in Manchester, United Kingdom, while the Lunar Digital brand stays with Lunar Digital. For Volta, the purchase is its first move outside London.
Volta expands UK colocation platform into Manchester
Jason Liggins, CEO of Volta, noted that the company had until now been a London business and said that having a second home in Manchester gives customers more choice and more places to connect.
He thanked the Lunar Digital management team for the business they built and for their support through the transition, adding that the priority is to keep delivering and improving the service every customer receives.
Charlie Scott, Senior Investment Director and Asset Manager for Volta, described Reynolds House as standing out as an ideal first bolt-on acquisition under Arcus' ownership and a key step in building a leading UK connectivity-led colocation platform.
According to Scott, the site's established position at the heart of Manchester's connectivity ecosystem and its high-quality customer base give Volta a strong foothold in the country's most important regional data centre market, and will let the firm offer customers connectivity spanning both London and Manchester.
The acquired operation will rely on staff transferring with the business, additional recruitment, and Volta's central resources.
A young seller with an established asset
The sale marks a significant milestone for Lunar Digital, which launched its first data centre, Lunar 1, only in January 2024. The company was founded in 2022 and sits in the south-central Manchester connectivity cluster, the city's main networking hub.
Robin Garbutt, CEO and Co-Founder of Lunar Digital, said that building the Reynolds House facility into an established part of the city's connectivity ecosystem had been a significant achievement for the team.
He expressed pride in the business developed and pleasure at seeing Arcus and Volta back to its next phase of growth, saying the transaction brings new investment and opportunities for the data centre, its customers, and its people, while Lunar Digital retains its brand.
Inside Reynolds House
The Reynolds House site hosts approximately 25 carriers, a London Internet Exchange point of presence, and direct dark fibre links to Equinix's MA1 data centre. Lunar serves roughly 60 customers spanning content networks, carriers, cybersecurity, IT services, and enterprise.
Installed IT capacity currently stands at approximately 1.45MW, with plans to grow that to 2.5MW. Manchester itself is the UK's largest regional data centre market outside London and the leading network aggregation point for Northern England, giving the acquisition a platform for further growth in the region.
