Vertical Data Signs Purchase Agreement to Acquire 4.5 MW Industrial Site to Scale to 100 MW Sweden AI Data Center

Vertical Data Inc., the Las Vegas-based AI infrastructure company traded on the OTCQB market under the ticker VDTA, has entered into a definitive purchase agreement to acquire an existing industrial data center site in the Sollefteå Municipality of Central Sweden, the company announced on September 11, 2026. The acquisition is being pursued through Vertical Data Nordic AB, a majority-owned subsidiary, and represents the company's first announced data center foothold outside the United States.

Site Details and Power Capacity Plans

The property being acquired currently operates with 4.5 megawatts of power capacity and sits within the Hamre Industrial Park in Sollefteå Municipality. Following a successful close of the transaction, Vertical Data intends to continue pursuing an existing application to expand total power capacity at the site to up to 100 megawatts, with the goal of developing an institutional-grade AI data center facility.

The Sollefteå Municipality has publicly stated that the Hamre Industrial Park is connected to up to 500 megawatts of available grid capacity, a figure the company cited in its announcement as a key factor in the site's long-term potential.

The application to increase power capacity remains subject to applicable utility, regulatory, and technical processes and approvals. The company described Central Sweden's climate, proximity to renewable power generation, and access to fiber and transportation infrastructure as making the region strategically attractive for large-scale data center development. The existing site is powered by renewable hydroelectricity, and Vertical Data said the local government is actively supporting data center development in the area.

Transaction Timeline and Conditions

Vertical Data said it anticipates closing the transaction within the next several weeks from the announcement date. The company noted that site requirements, development costs, customer demand and financing needs will not be formally assessed until after closing occurs. Completion of the deal remains subject to several outstanding conditions, including financing, corporate approvals, applicable regulatory clearances and other customary and transaction-specific closing conditions.

The company said it and Vertical Data Nordic AB are currently focused on satisfying the remaining conditions to closing and are approaching the project with what it described as diligence and discipline.

Part of a Broader Global Pipeline

Deven Soni, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Vertical Data, framed the Sweden agreement as one piece of a larger development strategy the company is actively pursuing. In a statement accompanying the announcement, Soni said the project is one of several in an active conversion pipeline representing more than 250 megawatts of global data center opportunities.

"This agreement provides Vertical Data with an excellent opportunity to expand our data center footprint outside of the US in an area within Central Sweden that is powered by renewable hydroelectricity and backed by a local government that is actively supporting data center development in the area," Soni said. He described the company's broader approach as transforming existing industrial sites into institutional-grade AI data centers.

The Sweden acquisition fits within Vertical Data's stated strategy of sourcing, developing, leasing and managing data center facilities through its Vertical Edge platform, one of three operating platforms the company runs. The other two are VerticalData.io, which provides enterprise GPU provisioning and managed infrastructure, and GPUfinancing.com, which arranges structured financing for GPU deployments.
